What God Really Wants Us To Know -- Part 8: "Christ-Like"? Does Jesus Really Expect Us to Love Others As He Loves Us?

Christ like?? Me? Is there any way possible to follow Jesus' command to love in the same way that Jesus loves us unless we become at least to some degree like Jesus? If finding the kingdom of God means manifesting the “fruit of the Spirit”: unconditional love, peace, joy and all the rest, then it follows that Jesus expects us to follow him and become like him to the greatest degree possible. Yes, at first this thought may seem blasphemous to consider but doesn't it make sense that followers of Christ should become more like Christ and less like mortal human beings? We may wonder, did Jesus really expect his followers to become like him?

What God Wants Us to Know: (Part 7): Connection Between "Abundant Life" and "Fruit of the Spirit"

Next, what would be the observable traits of a person who had for some time actually attempted to put Jesus' teachings into practice and had grown in spirit, experiencing more and more of the abundant life and the state of being which Jesus called, "Blessed"? What would the world witness as the "fruit" of such a person?

What God Really Wants Us To Know: (Part 6): "Blessed" Deeper Meaning

God wants us to know what the experience of the kingdom of God feels like. If "abundant life" is the experience of the kingdom of God there must be some explanation somewhere in the Word of God of what that experience of abundant life is like and also some direction of what we must do to begin to experience that abundant life.

What God Really Wants Us to Know -- (Part 5) -- Understanding the Kingdom of God

As the kingdom of God was the essential message of Jesus, it follows that all of his teachings had something to do with bringing understanding to the world of what the kingdom of God is and what we must do to "enter" into it. Given the very limited education and awareness of the people at Jesus' time, explaining the "kingdom of God" was surely a daunting task. Human beings tend to grasp things in terms of ideas and concepts. Could their be any greater challenge for the limited human mind to actually grasp than the concept of the  kingdom of God ?

What God Really Wants Us to Know Series (Part 4) "The Kingdom of God" Outside or Inside?

What is the universal drive, the drive behind all human action, all striving and seeking from the human perspective? Is it not the simple truth that all we really want is to be happy?   Isn't "happiness" what virtually everyone on earth is really seeking? God offers the kingdom of God – abundant life – true, sustainable, unconditional happiness. Now, how does what God offers compare to what most of us seek? How does the kingdom of God and the abundant life that God offers compare to the typical conditions for happiness that we human beings have created in our minds? We might think that if we had wealth and fame we would be happy, but it is easy to find plenty of examples of people with great wealth and fame who are so miserable that they must turn to drugs or alcohol just to deal with daily life.   We might think respect or admiration of other people will make us happy, but people are fickle and have short memories and we could be on top today and forgotten or des...

What God Really Wants Us to Know (Part 3) -- "The Kingdom of God"

There is no theme, no topic in the New Testament more emphasized than this. This is not subjective opinion this is objective, verifiable fact. The Gospels report that Jesus taught the "good news of the kingdom" wherever he went and commanded his disciples to do the same. The question is, what does God want you to understand about his kingdom and why is it important to you as a child of God?

What God Really Wants Us to Know (Part 2)

Anyone interested in a more abundant life should be interested in the word of God which states in the most direct manner possible that it is God's pleasure to give us his kingdom, to give us abundant life. Every human being on earth is interested in a more abundant life. Jesus came that we might actually have it. And to show us the way, he provided a number of teachings and to ensure we got the point that action is required on our part, he repeatedly emphasized the importance of putting his teachings into practice. Clearly, there exists a direct and profound connection between God's will that his children live in a state of abundant life and the teachings of Christ. Consider what your life would be like if you assumed that everything that Jesus taught is a pearl of incalculable value on your personal spiritual path. What if to the best of your ability, you devoted your life to understand, internalize and apply what Jesus taught his disciples? What would your life be like ...
