What God Wants Us to Know: (Part 7): Connection Between "Abundant Life" and "Fruit of the Spirit"

Next, what would be the observable traits of a person who had for some time actually attempted to put Jesus' teachings into practice and had grown in spirit, experiencing more and more of the abundant life and the state of being which Jesus called, "Blessed"? What would the world witness as the "fruit" of such a person?

 God wants us to know what the experience of the kingdom of God feels like. If "abundant life" is the experience of the kingdom of God there must be some explanation somewhere in the Word of God of what that experience of abundant life is like and also some direction of what we must do to begin to experience that abundant life.

As the kingdom of God was the essential message of Jesus, it follows that all of his teachings had something to do with bringing understanding to the world of what the kingdom of God is and what we must do to "enter" into it. Given the very limited education and awareness of the people at Jesus' time, explaining the "kingdom of God" was surely a daunting task. Human beings tend to grasp things in terms of ideas and concepts. Could their be any greater challenge for the limited human mind to actually grasp than the concept of the  kingdom of God ?

What is the universal drive, the drive behind all human action, all striving and seeking from the human perspective? Is it not the simple truth that all we really want is to be happy?   Isn't "happiness" what virtually everyone on earth is really seeking? God offers the kingdom of God – abundant life – true, sustainable, unconditional happiness. Now, how does what God offers compare to what most of us seek? How does the kingdom of God and the abundant life that God offers compare to the typical conditions for happiness that we human beings have created in our minds? We might think that if we had wealth and fame we would be happy, but it is easy to find plenty of examples of people with great wealth and fame who are so miserable that they must turn to drugs or alcohol just to deal with daily life.   We might think respect or admiration of other people will make us happy, but people are fickle and have short memories and we could be on top today and forgotten or des...
