What God Really Wants Us to Know (Part 2)

Anyone interested in a more abundant life should be interested in the word of God which states in the most direct manner possible that it is God's pleasure to give us his kingdom, to give us abundant life. Every human being on earth is interested in a more abundant life. Jesus came that we might actually have it. And to show us the way, he provided a number of teachings and to ensure we got the point that action is required on our part, he repeatedly emphasized the importance of putting his teachings into practice. Clearly, there exists a direct and profound connection between God's will that his children live in a state of abundant life and the teachings of Christ.

Consider what your life would be like if you assumed that everything that Jesus taught is a pearl of incalculable value on your personal spiritual path. What if to the best of your ability, you devoted your life to understand, internalize and apply what Jesus taught his disciples? What would your life be like and what effect would you have on others by your example if you accepted that Jesus was serious when he said, “I am come that they might have life and have it more abundantly” and studied Jesus’ teachings and strived with all your heart, soul and mind to put those teachings into practice?
But where does one start? It can be confusing. There are roughly forty commandments in the Sermon on the Mount alone. Studying each commandment individually and trying to make sense of them can be utterly confusing and frustrating. A better way might be to start with the major themes of what Christ taught. Every wise teacher knows that the most important, the most essential, foundational concepts must be repeated many, many times over before the student retains it and builds a basis for further understanding. Clearly, the Living Christ was and is a wise teacher. Would it not be valuable then to give special attention to the teachings Jesus emphasized most through simple repetition? That is exactly what this book is about – it is about discovery; simply assuming that everything that Jesus said, (and especially what was repeated many times over) will provide the foundational directions and insights necessary to finding the path to the abundant life which Christ promised.

This series focuses on the top seven most emphasized teachings of Christ. The assumption being that when Almighty God, speaking through Christ repeated some teachings dozens and dozens of times, that there must be a divine, profound reason for the repetition. Therefore, the major premise of this book is that an understanding of the most repeated teachings of Christ will result in establishing a firm foundation of the keys of abundant life.
